To calibrate your Ode Brew Grinder, follow these steps:
1. Start by ensuring that the grinder is unplugged and empty of coffee beans.
2. Remove the faceplate of the grinder by gently pulling on it to snap it off.
3. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to unscrew the four larger screws with arrows pointing to them.
4. Pull on the grind dial to remove the grinds dial assembly.
5. Carefully remove the rotational burr/auger, auger key, and spring from the grinds chamber by pressing in.
6. Take note of the burr touch point, which is where the burrs touch when the grinder is set to the finest grind size.
7. To adjust the burr touch point, rotate the burr/auger assembly clockwise to move the burrs closer together or counterclockwise to move them further apart.
8. Reassemble the grinder by following the steps in reverse order.
9. Test the grind size by adjusting the dial to the finest setting and grinding a small amount of coffee. If the grind is too fine or too coarse, repeat the calibration process until the desired grind size is achieved.
It is important to note that the Ode Brew Grinder is designed for brewing coffee and may not grind fine enough for espresso machines. However, calibrating the burr touch point can help achieve a finer grind for brewing methods such as AeroPress, Hario V60, or Prismo.
