To properly install the Krix IC-20 In Ceiling Single Speaker, please follow these steps:
1. Before beginning the installation, discuss with your local Krix distributor or installation consultant to determine the best location for your loudspeakers. Check for any obstructions such as electrical wiring, plumbing, stud work, or air conditioning ducts.
2. Ensure that there is enough ceiling space to accommodate the speaker enclosure.
3. If the product requires painting, it is recommended to do this before installation. Use the external template provided to mask the visible surfaces from the rest of the product. Apply a light coat of paint using a spray can, rotating the product at 90° intervals and applying three more light coats for even coverage. Avoid applying single heavy coats of paint to prevent blocking the grille holes. If the grille does become blocked by paint, use a small pin or similar tool to release the blockage while the paint is still wet.
4. Turn off all electronic equipment and disconnect from the power point before connecting the speaker system.
5. Follow the connection instructions supplied with your amplifier, CD/DVD player, hard disk recorder, video player, etc.
6. Install the speaker cable in the wall or ceiling cavity, or run it along the wall surface. Leave approximately 300mm of excess cable to facilitate loudspeaker installation.
7. Follow the connection instructions supplied with your amplifier to connect the speaker cables. Assign the same cable color or trace to the positive (+) connector on the amplifier as the positive (+) connector on the speaker. Neatly strip the cable ends, taking care to eliminate loose strands of wire that may pose a short circuit hazard.
8. Once the correct placement of the speakers has been determined, use the cardboard insert marked 'template' to trace the required cut-out onto the ceiling or wall.
9. Drill a hole inside the marked cut-out and use a fine gyprock saw to cut around the inside of the marked cut-out.
10. Pull the stripped speaker cable through the ceiling opening. Push and hold down the positive (+) red binding post on the speaker and insert the positive (+) wire through the hole in the post. Repeat this process with the negative (-) black binding post and the negative (-) wire.
11. Ensure all three mounting wings are compressed back against the speaker enclosure so that the speaker can be easily inserted into the hole.
12. Rotate the speaker clockwise once the mounting wings begin to engage in the hole and continue the rotation until the speaker is flush with the ceiling.
13. To remove the speaker from the cavity, rotate the speaker clockwise while gently pulling away from the hole.
