The Philips 458471 Outdoor Smart Spot Light Extension is designed to be used with the provided power supply. The smart features are built into each individual light, so you will need to connect the base unit, which includes the power supply, to power the lights in the chain. The rest of the lights in the chain will receive power from the base unit. You can control each light individually through the Hue app, but only the base unit needs to be connected to power.
