Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the LUX T101141SA Heating Only Mechanical Thermostat:
1. Choose the correct location: Locate the thermostat on an inside wall about five feet above the floor in a frequently used room. Avoid installing it near direct sunlight, lamps, radiators, fireplaces, or other heat-producing appliances. Also, avoid damp or humid areas and areas with poor air circulation.
2. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a wire stripper or knife, drill with a 3/16" bit, screwdriver, level, and a pencil.
3. Remove the old thermostat: Disconnect electricity and turn off the gas to the heater. Remove the cover from the old thermostat and loosen all screws. Disconnect the wires from the thermostat, making sure they do not fall back inside the wall. Strip insulation 3/8" from the wire ends and clean off any corrosion. Fill the wall opening with non-combustible insulation to prevent drafts.
4. Install the new thermostat: Place the new decorative wall plate (if supplied) over the wall opening. Remove the front cover of the new thermostat by gently prying away each corner. Place the base on the wall plate over the wall opening and mark the wall with a pencil at the mounting holes. Drill two holes with a 3/16" bit, 1" deep. Insert plastic xxxx anchors into the drilled holes. Bring the wires through the large hole in the decorative wall plate and through the hole for wires in the base. Fasten the base loosely to the wall using two mounting screws. Use a level to ensure the base is level and then tighten the mounting screws. Attach the wires to the terminal screws on the base. Push any excess wire back into the wall opening. Set the anticipator setting on the new thermostat to match the setting on the old thermostat. Attach the front cover to the base.
5. Turn on the electricity and gas: Turn the electricity and gas back on and set the temperature pointer on top of the thermostat to the desired temperature.
