1. Choose the correct location: Locate the thermostat on an inside wall about five feet above the floor in a frequently used room. Avoid installing it near direct sunlight, lamps, radiators, fireplaces, or other heat-producing appliances. Also, avoid damp or humid areas and areas with poor air circulation.

2. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a wire stripper or knife, drill with a 3/16" bit, screwdriver, level, and a pencil.

3. Remove the old thermostat: Disconnect electricity and turn off the gas to the heater. Remove the cover from the old thermostat and loosen all screws.
