To install the Kwikset 99250-102 Convert Smart Lock Conversion Kit, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your existing deadbolt is compatible with the conversion kit.
- Check the user manual for a list of compatible deadbolts.
- Measure the thickness of your door to ensure compatibility.
2. Disassemble your existing deadbolt.
- Open your door and extend the latch bolt.
- Remove all existing deadbolt hardware from the interior side of your door, but keep the deadbolt exterior in place.
3. Determine the parts needed for your door.
- Refer to the user manual to identify the necessary parts for your specific door.
4. Install the mounting plate and test your latch.
- Place the mounting plate on the door, aligning the torque blade with the center hole.
- Secure the mounting plate with the provided screws.
- Insert your key and test the latch for smooth operation.
- Remove the key and ensure that the bolt is fully extended.
5. Install the interior assembly.
- Prepare the interior assembly according to the user manual.
- Install the adapter on the interior assembly.
6. Install the interior assembly onto the mounting plate.
- Follow the instructions in the user manual to attach the interior assembly to the mounting plate.
7. Perform the door handing process.
- Insert 4 AA batteries into the battery pack.
- With the door open, insert the battery pack while pressing and holding the Program button. Release the button when the battery pack is fully inserted.
- The Status LED will flash red and green, and the lock will beep. Press and release the Program button again.
- The latch bolt will retract and extend on its own to learn the orientation of the door.
8. Download the Kevo app and set up your smartphone.
- Visit kwikset.com/kevo/app or scan the provided QR code to download the Kevo app.
- Follow the instructions within the app to create an account, enroll your smartphone, and send eKeys to family and friends.
9. Install the interior cover.
10. Familiarize yourself with the additional features and capabilities of the Kevo Convert Smart Lock Conversion Kit, such as Kevo-compatible devices, history log, notifications, dual-factor authentication, Kevo Plus, and connecting to smart products.
