Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the Genie ALKT1-R Smart Garage Door Opener Controller:
1. In the Home close to Wi-Fi Router:
- Remove the mounting bracket from the back of the DCM (Door Control Module).
- Plug the Aladdin Connect™ into a wall outlet using the Power Pack.
- Plug the Power Pack into the DCM controller.
2. In the Home close to Wi-Fi Router:
- Download the Aladdin Connect™ app on your mobile device.
- Scan the QR code provided or search for the app in your device's app store.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account and program the system before wiring it in the garage.
- Disconnect the Power Pack and move the system to the garage when prompted.
3. In the Garage:
- Determine the optimal Wi-Fi signal strength within the garage. If needed, move the wireless router closer or install a Wi-Fi range extender.
- Choose a desired location for the DCM with access to a 110VAC outlet within 5 feet.
- Plug the Power Pack into the wall outlet and DCM near the chosen mounting location.
- Check the Wi-Fi signal indicator LED on the DCM. A green LED indicates a good signal, while a red LED indicates a lost or faulty signal.
- If needed, move the DCM to a position that better suits the Wi-Fi signal. Contact Customer Service for further assistance if necessary.
- Once an optimal signal and location are obtained, unplug the Power Pack from the DCM.
4. Wire Aladdin Connect™:
- Wire the Aladdin Connect™ directly to the wall control connections at the powerhead or directly to the wall control of your garage door opener.
- Split the provided dual-strand wire approximately 2 inches and strip 1/2 inch of insulation.
- Press the orange tabs down and insert both wires into the connection points for DOOR 1 on the back of the DCM.
- Trim and split the other end of the dual-strand wire approximately 2 inches and strip 1/2 inch of insulation.
- Insert the wire into the wall control inputs either directly to the garage door opener or to the back of the wall control.
5. Mount and Power Aladdin Connect™:
- Use the DCM mounting bracket as a template to mark and drill 2-3/32" pilot holes on the wall at the optimal Wi-Fi location.
- Mount the bracket to the wall using the supplied screws.
- Plug the Power Pack into a wall outlet and connect it to the DCM.
- Snap the DCM onto the mounting bracket.
- Route the wires and secure them with the supplied staples.
- Affix the warning placard next to the wall control or DCM in plain sight to indicate that the door will operate remotely.
6. Mount DPS Module to Garage Door:
- Do not remove the battery "PULL TAB" from the DPS (Door Position Sensor) until directed by the app.
- Mount the DPS on the top door panel only, to the steel reinforced end stile on the far left or right under the top hinge.
- Clean the door where the DPS will mount.
- Install double-sided tape to the back of the mounting bracket and affix it to the door.
- Pre-drill 2-3/32" holes (do not drill all the way through the door).
- Use the included self-tapping screws to mount the DPS bracket to the top door panel end stile.
- Slide the DPS down onto the mounting bracket until it snaps into place.
7. Complete the Programming:
- Restore power to the garage door opener.
- Follow the on-screen prompts in the Aladdin Connect™ app to complete the setup and test the system.
