To descale the Breville BDC450BSS Precision Brewer Thermal Coffee Maker, follow these steps:
1. Empty the water tank and prepare a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions. You can use a commercially available descaling solution or make your own using equal parts of water and white vinegar.
2. Pour the descaling solution into the empty water tank.
3. Place the brew basket and carafe under the drip stop outlet. Ensure that the carafe is empty and the lid is securely locked.
4. Press and hold the SELECT button for 3 seconds to enter the descaling mode. The LCD screen will display "dSL" for 1 second and then show the remaining time of the descaling cycle.
5. The machine will automatically start the descaling cycle, which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. During this time, the descaling solution will be circulated through the system to remove mineral build-up.
6. Once the descaling process is finished, the LCD screen will return to the main menu. To remove any residual descaling solution, invert the machine and brew with fresh water twice. Discard the water from the carafe and rinse thoroughly.
Note: It is important to descale the coffee maker regularly to maintain its performance and ensure the best-tasting coffee. The frequency of descaling will depend on the hardness of your water. If you notice a decrease in performance or the LCD screen displays "DESCALE" (flashing), it is time to descale the machine.
