The Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Computerized Telescope comes partially assembled and can be operational in a matter of minutes. Here are the steps to assemble the telescope:
1. Remove all of the accessories from their individual boxes and save the containers for transportation.
2. Attach the accessory tray to the tripod legs by placing it on top of the tripod center support brace and rotating it so that the central hole slides over the flange post in the center of the support bracket. Rotate the tray until the locking tabs slide under the locking clips on the support bracket.
3. Level the tripod and adjust the height of the tripod legs by loosening the leg locking bolts, sliding the inner portion of each leg down 6-8 inches, adjusting the tripod height until the bubble level on the tripod leg is centered, and tightening the locking bolts to hold each leg in place.
4. Attach the snap-on hand control holder to any of the tripod legs by positioning the holder with the square plastic tab facing up and pushing against the tripod leg until it snaps into place.
5. Place the fork arm base inside the tripod mounting platform and thread the coupling xxxx into the hole at the bottom of the fork arm base. Hand tighten the coupling xxxx to attach the fork arm to the tripod.
6. Attach the telescope tube to the fork arm by loosening the tube clamp tightening xxxx , sliding the dovetail mounting bar of the telescope tube into the fork arm clamp (make sure the logo on the side of the tube is right side up), and tightening the tube clamp xxxx by hand to secure the tube to the fork arm.
Your Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Computerized Telescope is now fully assembled and ready to attach the accessories and start observing. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, refer to the user manual provided with the telescope.
