Cleaning the Black+Decker ICR2030 steam iron is important to maintain its performance. Here are the steps to clean the iron:
1. Make sure the iron is unplugged and has completely cooled down.
2. Wipe the soleplate and outer surface with a soft, damp cloth using water and a small amount of gentle household soap, such as dishwashing liquid. Avoid using heavy-duty cleaners, vinegar, or abrasive scouring pads that may scratch or discolor the iron.
3. After the iron has been thoroughly dried, turn it back on and lightly steam over an old cloth. This will help remove any residue left in the steam holes.
4. For regular maintenance, it is recommended to use the Auto-Clean™ system every 2-4 weeks. Fill the water tank below the MAX fill line, plug in the iron, and select the Wool Fabric setting (Number 5) on the Smart Steam dial. Stand the iron on its heel while it preheats. Once heated, turn the dial to the MIN setting, unplug the iron, and hold it over a sink with the soleplate facing down. Press the Auto-Clean™ button and allow the hot water and steam to empty from the vents. Tilt the iron slightly if needed to aid the process. When finished, release the Auto-Clean™ button and place the iron on its heel rest to cool completely before storing.
5. Remember to empty the water tank after each use to prevent discoloration and staining. Simply open the water tank door and hold the iron upside down over a sink until the tank is empty.
6. Store the iron vertically on its heel to prevent water from leaking from the soleplate.
By following these cleaning instructions, you can keep your Black+Decker ICR2030 steam iron in good condition and ensure optimal performance.
