To set the capacitance value on the Time Electronics 1070 Capacitance Decade Box, follow these steps:
1. Before use, rotate all the digit thumbwheels completely 2 times to ensure the contacts are self-cleaned.
2. The 1070 features color-coded digits to indicate the set values: μF (red), nF (white), pF (yellow).
3. Use the thumbwheel digit switches to set the required capacitance values according to the decade ranges. Each decade can be set from 0 to 9.
For example, to set a capacitance value of 2.746 μF:
- Set 2 on the 1 μF decade.
- Set 7 on the 100 nF decade.
- Set 4 on the 10 nF decade.
- Set 6 on the 1 nF decade.
- Set 0 on the 100 pF decade.
Note: All capacitance boxes have a residual capacitance, even when the dials are set to zero. If you are making precision measurements or recalibrating the instrument, this residual value must be subtracted from all measurements. The specifications in the manual provide typical values of residual capacitance.
Please refer to the "Setting Capacitance" section in the Time Electronics 1070 Capacitance Decade Box user manual for more detailed instructions and information.
