To install the ITC Reed Horizontal Bend, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect power: Before installing, adding, or changing any component, make sure to disconnect the power.
2. Gather necessary parts/tools: You will need a flexible light, mounting channel (purchased separately), power drill, butt splice connectors, #4 flat head screws, and isopropyl alcohol & primer 94 (not provided).
3. Safety precautions: Account for all parts and destroy all packing materials to avoid hazards to children. It is recommended to add a 5 Amp standard automotive fuse protection to the positive (+) input.
4. Installation considerations: Do not bend the lighting more than necessary, as it should only be bent to a 1" radius. Bending it to a tight 90° angle could damage the circuit. Only bend the LED ribbon in one natural direction and avoid twisting. Ensure that the surfaces where the product will be installed are smooth, clean, and free of dust and debris. Failure to clean the surface properly may result in loss of adhesion. If the surface is rough, xxxx -in mounting channels can be used for installation. Contact ITC sales for more information on the mounting channel.
5. Electrical specifications: The electrical specifications for the product are 1.42 W/Ft and 0.11 A/Ft.
6. Determine installation location: Decide where you want to install the tape lighting. It can be attached using the adhesive on the back or with a mounting channel.
7. Prepare the surface: Clean the surface with a mixture of 50% water and 50% isopropyl alcohol. Let the surface dry. Apply Primer 94 as recommended by 3M. Failure to follow the surface preparation guidelines will void the warranty. If there is adhesive on the back of the light, remove it before installing in the channel.
8. Wire the light: Wire the light based on the provided wiring diagrams. Addressable Reed tape light will require one driver (part #810-00719) for every 5.5A of power used. Multiple light lengths can be wired to one driver.
9. Important note: The flexible light cannot be field cut. Field cutting the light will void the warranty.
