To wire the Fostoria FES4548-3 FES-Series Heat Wave Electric Heater to your power source, follow these steps:
1. Determine your power source: The FES4548-3 model requires a 480-Volt, 3-phase power supply.
2. Ensure proper power supply: Your power source could be a fused disconnect for three-phase industrial applications, a temporary or permanent service panel, a generator, or an electric range outlet for the 10kW, 240V single-phase model.
3. Follow local electric codes: Make sure to follow all local electric codes when hooking up the Heat Wave heater to your electrical power supply. This ensures safety and compliance with regulations.
4. Connect the wires: If you are using a service panel as your power source, feed the cable from the heater into your service box and connect the wires according to the specifications. For example, an 80 Amp fuse or breaker is needed for the model FES-1524-1A - 15kW, 240V unit in single-phase operation.
5. Use appropriate wire and breaker size: Depending on the distance between the heater and the power source, you may need to consider voltage drop. In general, for the FES4548-3 model, it is recommended to use Number 6, 4 conductors SO cord and a 60 amp 3-phase breaker.
6. Optional cable kits: The FES4548-3 model does not come with a power cord. If you need a power cord, you can purchase an optional 25' long SO Type cord, ready for plug attachment.
Please refer to the user manual for more detailed instructions and diagrams specific to your model.
