To set up the GoldenEar Triton Seven speakers, follow these steps:
1. Unpacking: Carefully unpack the speakers and inspect them for any shipping damage. If you notice any damage, report it to your GoldenEar dealer or the delivery company immediately. Keep the packaging materials in case you need to move or ship the speakers in the future.
2. Assembly: The Triton Seven speakers come with threaded rubber feet, optional spikes, and locking nuts. You can choose to use either the rubber feet or the spikes for stability. To install the leveling feet or spikes, follow these instructions:
a. Place the speaker on a soft elevated flat surface, such as a tabletop with a towel.
b. Install a locking nut onto each foot and xxxx each foot into the threaded inserts on the bottom of the base.
c. Carefully return the speaker to an upright position with the help of another person. If using spikes, push down on the top of the speaker to force the spikes through the carpet and make contact with the floor beneath.
d. Once the speakers are positioned, wiggle them to ensure stability and levelness. Adjust the height of the leveling feet/spikes as needed and tighten the locking nut.
3. Speaker Placement: GoldenEar Triton speakers are designed to provide flexible placement options. For the best performance, consider the following guidelines:
- Position the speakers so that the high-frequency drivers are at approximately ear level for accurate timbre.
- Avoid placing the speakers in corners, as this can over-emphasize bass and reduce overall clarity. Position them at least 8 inches away from the wall behind and as much as possible from the sidewalls.
- Measure the distance from your main listening area to the left front speaker and place the speakers that distance apart from each other for optimal imaging and soundstage. To further optimize imaging, turn the speakers inward so they point toward the listening position with their axes crossing just behind it.
4. Speaker Connection: Turn off your amplifier/receiver before connecting the speakers. The Triton Seven speakers have 5-way binding posts that can be used with bare wire, pin or spade connectors, or banana plugs. Make sure all wires are firmly fastened. Consult your dealer for assistance in choosing a high-quality speaker wire of sufficient gauge for your setup.
5. Bass and Treble Controls: It is recommended to set the bass and treble controls on your receiver or amplifier to flat (or off, or 0 dB) for the most accurate and natural sound. Avoid using tone controls or loudness controls, as they may demand more power from the amplifier.
6. Channel Levels and Bass Management: If you are using the Triton speakers as part of a multi-channel home theater system, follow the recommended setup guidelines for channel levels and bass management provided by your receiver or A/V processor. Proper channel balancing and bass management are crucial for optimal system performance.
