To clean the Oster 5712 Electronic 2-Tier Quart Food Steamer, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the cord from the outlet and allow the steamer to cool before cleaning.
2. Never immerse the base, cord, or plug in water.
3. Empty the drip tray and water reservoir.
4. If there is a small amount of water remaining inside the water box, you can turn the unit upside down to let the water drain out from the water inlet.
5. Wash the lid, steaming bowls, rice bowl, and drip tray in hot, soapy water.
6. Rinse and dry all parts thoroughly. Alternatively, you can wash them on the top rack of a dishwasher.
7. Clean the water reservoir with soapy water and wipe it with a damp cloth.
8. Do not use abrasive cleaners on any parts of the steamer.
9. The lower steaming bowl and rice bowl can be stored inside the upper steaming bowl with the lid on top.
10. In hard water areas, scale may build up on the heating element. To remove scale, pour 3 cups of clear vinegar into the water reservoir and fill it with water up to the HI level. Do not include the lid, steaming bowl, rice bowl, and drip tray in this procedure. Plug in the steamer and set the timer to 20 minutes. When the timer rings, unplug the cord and allow the unit to cool completely before emptying the water reservoir. Rinse the water reservoir several times with cold water.
Note: It is important to follow the cleaning instructions in the user manual for proper maintenance and to ensure the longevity of the steamer.
