To connect your Samsung HW-J551 Soundbar to your TV, you can follow these steps:
1. Check the available audio output ports on your TV. The most common ports are HDMI ARC, optical audio, and analog audio (3.5mm or RCA).
2. If your TV has an HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port, use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI ARC port on your TV to the HDMI OUT (TV-ARC) port on the Soundbar. This will allow both audio playback from the TV and control of the Soundbar with your TV remote.
3. If your TV has an optical audio output, use an optical audio cable to connect the optical audio output on your TV to the OPTICAL IN port on the Soundbar. Make sure to remove the protective caps from both ends of the cable before connecting.
4. If your TV has analog audio outputs, you can use a 3.5mm to RCA cable or a stereo RCA cable to connect the audio output on your TV to the AUX IN or AUDIO IN ports on the Soundbar. The 3.5mm end of the cable should be plugged into the TV's headphone jack or audio output.
5. Once the physical connections are made, power on both the Soundbar and your TV.
6. On the Soundbar's remote control, press the Source button to select the appropriate input source (HDMI, Optical, or AUX) based on the connection you made.
7. Adjust the volume on the Soundbar and your TV to a comfortable level, and you should now be able to enjoy audio playback through the Soundbar.
