To connect and operate the Clarke DFT230 Diesel Fuel Transfer Pump, please follow these steps:
1. Install the pump: The pump can be installed in any horizontal mounting position using screws of adequate size. If the fuel supply tank is located higher than the pump, it is advisable to install an anti-siphon valve to prevent fuel leaks. The pump should not be installed at more than 6m above the fuel supply.
2. Check the inlet and outlet ports: Before connecting the hoses, make sure the inlet and outlet ports are clean and free from dirt. Also, ensure that the threads on the ports are clean.
3. Connect the hoses: xxxx in the transparent inlet (suction) hose to the side of the pump with the inlet filter, and connect the rubber outlet (delivery) hose to the side marked "OUT" on the pump body. Ensure the hose connections are completely airtight to prevent air from being drawn in and reducing the flow. You can use PTFE tape if necessary.
4. Connect the dispensing nozzle: Connect the dispensing nozzle assembly to the outlet hose.
5. Fill the pump with fuel: Before connecting the delivery hose for the first time, partially fill the pump body with diesel fuel to facilitate priming. Ensure the hoses and tank are free from contamination.
6. Switch on the pump: Ensure the ON/OFF switch is set to the OFF (O) position before plugging the pump into the power supply. Once plugged in, switch on the pump.
7. Prime the pump: When starting for the first time, open the dispensing nozzle to allow the evacuation of air and achieve quicker priming.
8. Dispense fuel: The pump is now ready to dispense fuel. Always switch off the pump when finished dispensing.
Note: It is important to keep the hose and inlet filter clean, as clogs can reduce pump performance. Also, do not allow the pump to run dry for more than 30 seconds after the discharge has stopped.
