To install and configure the TacTalk Messaging Application, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that your system meets the minimum system requirements, including having Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 installed on a 32 or 64-bit system, at least 32 GB of HDD/SDD storage, 8 GB of RAM memory, an RS232 serial port, a 10/100 Ethernet port, and a display with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
2. Connect your modem or radio device to your computer using the appropriate interface cable (e.g., RJ45 Ethernet Cable, P17W Ethernet Cable, 62IN4P Ethernet Cable).
3. Run the TacTalk installation program and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
4. Once the installation is complete, launch the TacTalk application.
5. The TacTalk Network configuration is done using the sat-Com Mission Plan Application. This application will automatically transfer the network design, frequencies, and call signs (Address Book) from the modem to TacTalk, requiring minimal configuration from the operator.
6. To add contacts to your Address Book, navigate to the Address Book section within the TacTalk application. From there, you can view, address, and export contacts for point-to-point chat. You can also import the exported file into compatible email clients like MS Outlook®.
7. Familiarize yourself with the TacTalk User Interface, which includes features such as messaging, voice support, modem control, and visualization of network activity.
8. Refer to the TacTalk User Guide for detailed instructions on using the messaging features, including sending and receiving text messages, SMS, QuickCodes, file transfer, and template-based forms. The User Guide also provides information on voice support, modem control, and other advanced features.
