To install the BRANDMOTION 9002-7468 GMC Sierra-Chevrolet Silverado Factory Tailgate Harness, you will need the following tools: a philips screwdriver and a drill. The difficulty level of the installation is moderate, and it should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.
Here are the step-by-step instructions for installation:
1. Select and Install Camera Bracket:
- Part 1: License Plate Bracket:
- Remove the license plate and attach the 90° LVDS connector onto the backside of the camera, ensuring that the cable will exit the housing correctly.
- Reattach the license plate securing bracket behind.
- Proceed to Part 3.
- Part 2: Alternate Camera Mount Bracket:
- If using the alternate camera mount bracket, remove the camera from the license plate bracket using a philips screwdriver.
- Use the surface mount bracket to mark the location of the center hole for the LVDS cable and drill the hole.
- xxxx the bracket to the body using the two outer holes of the mount.
- Run the cable through the center hole (do not feed from the 90° connector).
- Attach the 90° LVDS connector onto the backside of the camera.
- Attach the camera housing to the bracket using the provided screws and rubber washers.
2. Video Connections:
- Disconnect the LVDS connector from the factory camera.
- Route the provided LVDS cable to the location of the factory connection.
- Plug the LVDS connector into the factory connector that the factory camera was just unplugged from, ensuring that it clicks into place.
- Secure the camera harness to the existing vehicle wiring to minimize the chance of binding or damaging the harness.
3. Test and Adjust:
- Test the system by inspecting that all connections are proper and secure.
- Clear any loose items removed from the area around the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition key ON to test the system.
- Adjust the camera angle if necessary by loosening the camera xxxx , aiming the camera, and then tightening the xxxx at the desired adjustment.
