To install the GE APPLIANCES JVW5301 Pyramid Wall Chimney Vent Hood, follow these steps:

1. Before starting the installation, make sure to switch off the power at the service panel and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent accidental power switch-on.

2. Determine the location of the vent hood and mark the centerline on the wall where it will be installed.

3. Install the canopy mounting anchors by drilling holes and inserting the anchors. Install the mounting screws into the anchors.

4. Mark the locations for the duct cover brackets and drill holes for installation. Install the brackets and mounting screws.

5. Prepare the hood for installation by removing the grease filters and the protective plastic wrapping.

6. For vented installations, press the damper securely on top of the exhaust opening. For non-vented (recirculation) installations, install the recirculation duct supplied with the vent hood.

7. Mount the range hood body by placing the hood keyholes over the mounting screws and feeding the power supply cable through the electrical knockout. Tighten the mounting screws.

8. Connect the house ducting to the damper if it is a vented installation. Seal all connections with duct tape.

9. Install the upper duct cover by hooking it behind the duct cover mounting brackets and attaching it with duct cover screws.

10. Connect the power supply cable to the range hood by attaching the white lead of the power supply to the white lead of the range hood and the black lead of the power supply to the black lead of the range hood. Connect the green ground wire under the green grounding xxxx .

11. Replace the junction box cover.

12. For recirculation installations, attach the charcoal filters (not included) to both sides of the blower.

13. Replace the grease filters.

14. Install the lower duct cover by pushing the tabs forward and sliding them under the ledge of the hood body. Seat the back of the duct cover on the top of the range hood between the edges and tabs.

15. Turn on the power supply and test the operation of the range hood.
