To connect your Klipsch KSW12 subwoofer to your audio system, you have two options: line level connection and speaker level connection. Here are the step-by-step instructions for each method:
Line Level Connection:
1. Locate the "LINE IN" input on the back panel of the subwoofer.
2. Use a high-quality shielded interconnect cable terminated with RCA phono plugs to connect the "LINE IN" input to a non-filtered (full-range) subwoofer or main channel pre-amp output on your receiver or pre-amp/processor.
3. If your system has only a single pair of pre-amp outputs, you can use "Y" adapters (splitters) to feed a signal to both the subwoofer and the power amplifier.
4. Make sure the connections are secure and tight.
Speaker Level Connection:
1. If your receiver or integrated amplifier lacks line level subwoofer or pre-amp output jacks, you can use the speaker level connection method.
2. Locate the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the back panel of the subwoofer.
3. For parallel connection, connect the subwoofer input wires to the main channel, right and left, speaker outputs of your amplifier or to a secondary set of main speaker terminals (speaker B) if your amplifier is so equipped.
4. Alternatively, you can connect the wires from your main speakers, along with the subwoofer's input wires, to the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the subwoofer.
5. Ensure that the polarity (+ to + and - to -) of the speaker wire connections is correct to avoid diminished output.
6. If you are connecting the subwoofer to the "SPEAKER OUT" terminals on the subwoofer, make sure your main speakers are connected to the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the subwoofer instead of directly to your amplifier.
7. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure.
Note: When making any type of speaker wire connection, be sure to observe proper polarity (+ to + and - to -). Most speaker wire and connectors are color-coded, with red indicating positive (+) and black indicating negative (-) or ground. Be consistent with your connections throughout your system.
