To connect your Klipsch KSW-10 subwoofer to your audio system, you have two options: line level connection or speaker level connection. Here are the step-by-step instructions for both options:
Line Level Connection:
1. Locate the "LINE IN" input on the back of the subwoofer.
2. Use a high-quality shielded interconnect cable terminated with RCA phono plugs to connect the "LINE IN" input to a non-filtered (full-range) subwoofer or main channel pre-amp output on your receiver or pre-amp/processor.
3. Make sure the cable is securely connected to both the subwoofer and the audio system.
Speaker Level Connection:
1. Locate the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the back of the subwoofer.
2. For parallel connection of the subwoofer and main speaker wires (main speakers full range), you have two options:
a. Connect the subwoofer input wires to the main channel, right and left, speaker outputs of your amplifier or to a secondary set of main speaker terminals (speaker B) if your amplifier is so equipped.
b. Alternatively, you can connect the wires from your main speakers, along with the subwoofer's input wires, to the "SPEAKER IN" terminals on the subwoofer. This may be more convenient if the subwoofer is closer to your speakers than it is to your electronics.
3. Ensure that the speaker wires are securely connected to both the subwoofer and the amplifier or receiver.
Note: When making any type of speaker wire connection, be sure to observe proper polarity (+ to + and - to -). Most speaker wire is color-coded or has some distinguishing feature differentiating the two conductors. Speaker wire connectors on most loudspeakers and amplifiers are also color-coded. Typically, RED is positive (+) and BLACK is negative (-), or ground.
Once you have made the appropriate connections, you can adjust the subwoofer's volume using the "LEVEL" control and fine-tune the crossover frequency using the "LOW PASS (HZ)" control to achieve the desired balance between the subwoofer and your main speakers.
