To set up the Monitor Audio C350 Center Channel Speaker, follow these steps:
1. Spikes and Feet: If you have wooden/hard floors, attach the feet and outriggers to the speaker base using the supplied bolts. Use a spirit level to ensure the speaker is level on all sides and use the locking nuts to fix the feet in place. If you have carpeted floors, xxxx the spikes into the foot and outrigger assembly before fixing them to the speaker base.
2. Positioning: For a 2-channel system, position the speaker and the listening position to form an equilateral triangle. The speakers should be 6-10 feet apart and a minimum of 3 feet from the side walls. Experiment with speaker placement to optimize performance based on your room size and construction.
3. AV Positioning: For a surround system, refer to the illustrations in the manual for the ideal angles and positions of each speaker. Distance the speakers from the wall according to the requirements listed in the 2-Channel Positioning section.
4. Setting up the Silver FX: If you are using the Silver FX speakers, they can be wall-mounted approximately 2 feet above ear height. Use the Di-Pole or Bi-Pole switch based on your system configuration.
5. Wiring: You can choose between single wiring, bi-wiring, or bi-amping. Follow the instructions in the manual for each wiring method. Keep the terminal links in place for single wiring, remove them for bi-wiring, and use two amplifiers for bi-amping.
6. Port Bungs: If the speaker is installed in a small room or close to a wall, you can experiment with fitting port bungs to reduce bass "boom" and improve clarity. Follow the instructions in the manual for fitting the port bungs correctly.
7. Running-In Your Speakers: Play normal music at low-mid listening levels for approximately 50-70 hours to run in your speakers. The sound may continue to improve even after this period.
8. Retention Bolt Adjustment: If the retention bolt becomes loose over time, use the supplied hex key to tighten it back up. Only a quarter turn is needed after the strain has been taken by the bolt.
