To set up the Monitor Audio C150 6G Center Channel Speaker, follow these steps:
1. Spikes and Feet: If you have wooden/hard floors, attach the feet and outriggers to the speaker base using the supplied bolts. Ensure the speaker is level on all sides using a spirit level and use the locking nuts to fix the feet in place. If you have carpeted floors, xxxx the spike into the foot and attach them to the speaker base.
2. Positioning: For a 2-channel system, position the speakers approximately 6 - 10 feet apart, forming an equilateral triangle with the listening position. The ideal distance from the rear wall varies depending on the speaker. Experiment with speaker placement to optimize performance.
3. AV Positioning: Refer to the illustrations in the manual for the ideal angles and positions of each speaker in your surround system. Distance the speakers from the wall according to the requirements of the speaker. Adjust the positioning to achieve the desired sound.
4. Setting up the Silver FX: The Silver FX speakers feature Di-Pole or Bi-Pole listening modes. Set the switch to Bi-Pole when part of a 5.1 system as a rear speaker, and to Di-Pole when part of a 7.1 system with 1 pair of FXs. Experimentation is advised.
5. Atmos Setup: For an Atmos system, consider using the C265-IDC or CPCT380-IDC speakers for the Atmos channels. Refer to the manual for ideal positioning of 2 or 4 speaker setups.
6. Fixing the Silver FX to a wall: Use the keyhole brackets fixed to the cabinet and suitable fixings for the type of wall construction. Follow the instructions and use the wall fixing template provided.
7. Wiring: You can use single wiring, bi-wiring, or bi-amping methods. Follow the instructions in the manual for each wiring option. Ensure the terminal links are kept in place for single wiring and removed for bi-wiring or bi-amping.
8. Port Bungs: If needed, port bungs can be used to reduce bass boom. Experiment with positioning and room conditions before fitting the port bungs. Follow the instructions in the manual to optimize bass performance.
9. Running-In Your Speakers: Play normal music at low-mid listening levels for approximately 50-70 hours to run in the speakers. The sound may continue to improve even after this period.
10. Retention Bolt Adjustment: If the retention bolt becomes loose, use the supplied hex key to tighten it. Only a quarter turn after the strain has been taken by the bolt is necessary.
