To properly set up and install the Energy RC-70 Tower Speakers, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the speakers carefully, making sure to retain the carton and packing material for future use.
2. Install the spikes and feet for the speakers' bottom. Insert the spikes into the threaded insert in the plinth/base and tighten the nut on each spike using the supplied wrench. If your flooring is hardwood or a hard surface, use the included protective discs between the spike and the floor. If you prefer not to use spikes, self-adhesive rubber bumpers are included to protect hardwood or hard surface floors.
3. If desired, remove the high gloss black plinth/base attached to the bottom of the speakers by unscrewing the 4 round head machine bolts. Carefully remove the plinth/base to avoid damaging the speaker or plinth/base.
4. Connect the speakers to your audio system using high-quality speaker cables. The speakers accept a variety of connector types, including spade lugs, banana jacks, or pin type connectors. Use the best connector type for your system and ensure that the positive and negative terminals on the speakers match the corresponding terminals on your receiver or amplifier.
5. Position the speakers in your room. For the RC-70 Tower Speakers, place them a minimum of 6 feet apart and at least 12 inches from all walls. The distance between the speakers should be roughly 1.5 times the distance they are apart from the listening position. Experiment with speaker placement to achieve optimal sound quality.
6. If using the RC-70 Tower Speakers as part of a surround sound system, position the rear speakers on the side walls or rear walls of the room. Aim for equal distance between the rear speakers and the listening position. Adjust the height and angle of the speakers for the best surround effect.
7. Fine-tune the sound by adjusting the Soundfield Management controls on the RC-R speakers, if applicable. The Mode Switch allows you to customize the sound field type, and the Level Control adjusts the relative output of the side firing drivers compared to the front drivers. Refer to the manual for recommended settings based on your room configuration.
8. Take care of the speaker finish by gently cleaning it with a damp cloth and warm water when needed. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or ammonia-based cleaners.
By following these steps and referring to the user manual for additional details, you can properly set up and install the Energy RC-70 Tower Speakers for optimal sound reproduction.
