To install the Brandmotion FLTW-7614 Handle Rear Vision Camera, follow these steps:
1. Disassemble the tailgate and remove the current tailgate bezel assembly.
2. Transfer the lock assembly and install the new tailgate bezel.
3. Route the camera harness through the hole in the bottom of the tailgate. If there is no existing hole, drill one. It is recommended to protect the camera harness from sharp metal edges by applying a small amount of silicone caulk or using a rubber grommet.
4. Connect the camera harness to the supplied chassis harness. The optimal location for this junction may be under the rear bumper.
5. Wrap the connection with electrical tape to ensure a tight connection and seal it from the environment. Make sure the harness moves freely with the tailgate.
6. Route the chassis harness forward, zip tie it along the existing wire harness, and ensure it does not get pinched or come into contact with hot or moving components.
7. Route the chassis harness into the truck cab through an existing body plug. If necessary, drill a hole. It is recommended to protect the camera harness from sharp metal edges by applying a small amount of silicone caulk or using a rubber grommet to seal the cab from water.
8. Using a vehicle-specific service guide or wiring diagram and a multi-meter, verify a 12V reverse or ignition power source. Connect the red wire of the power harness to the 12V+ ignition or reverse power, and connect the black wire of the power harness to a black chassis ground nut or wire. It is recommended to solder the wires and cover them with heat shrink tubing.
9. Use wire ties to secure the chassis harness up to the vehicle display.
10. Connect the chassis harness male RCA connector to the RCA located on your display.
11. Coil any excess chassis harness and secure it to existing vehicle wiring with wire ties or electrical tape.
12. Test the system by closing the tailgate and clearing all removed items from around the vehicle. Start the vehicle, shift into reverse, and check the radio display for the camera image.
13. Reassemble the vehicle, following the disassembly steps in reverse order. Take care not to bind the harness wiring when reinstalling trim.
