To properly use the Fein ABLK 18 1.3 TE Select+ 18v Cordless Nibbler, follow these steps:
1. Read and understand the entire Instruction Manual and the enclosed "General Safety Instructions" before using the power tool. Keep these documents for future reference.
2. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as a face shield, safety goggles or glasses, dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves, and a workshop apron capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece fragments.
3. Secure the workpiece firmly using a clamping device or vice to ensure stability.
4. Do not rivet or xxxx any nameplates or signs onto the power tool, as it can damage the insulation and render the protection against electric shock ineffective. Adhesive labels are recommended.
5. Only use accessories that are specifically designed and recommended by the power tool manufacturer. Safe operation is not guaranteed if an accessory does not fit properly.
6. Regularly clean the ventilation openings on the power tool using non-metal tools to prevent an excessive accumulation of metallic dust, which can cause an electrical hazard.
7. Handle the battery (battery pack) with care by following these instructions:
- Do not disassemble, open, or reduce the size of the battery.
- Avoid subjecting the battery to mechanical impact or shock.
- Keep the battery away from heat, fire, and direct sunlight.
- Only remove the battery from its original packaging when it is going to be used.
- Remove the battery from the power tool before performing any work on the machine.
- Keep the battery away from children and protect it against moisture and water.
- Use only intact original FEIN batteries intended for your power tool.
- Follow the safety warnings in the operating instructions of the battery charger.
8. Be aware of hand/arm vibrations caused by the power tool. Take additional safety measures to protect yourself from the effects of vibration, such as maintaining the tool and accessories, keeping your hands warm, and organizing work patterns.
9. When operating the power tool, follow these guidelines:
- Guide the power tool toward the workpiece only when it is switched on.
- Hold the power tool as upright as possible to the workpiece surface while cutting.
- Guide the power tool uniformly and with light feed in the cutting direction. Excessive feed can reduce the tool life of the application tools.
- Avoid cutting steel sheets where welded and layered sheets exceeding the maximum workpiece thickness.
- Apply a lubricating agent (cutting paste, cutting oil for steel sheets, petroleum for aluminum) alongside the intended cutting line to increase the tool life of the punch and die.
- For inside cuts, use a pilot hole (refer to "Technical Data" for diameters).
- Switch off the power tool only after removing it from the cutting path.
- Replace worn punches and dies as indicated by a clearly increased feed force.
10. Follow the LED indicator on the battery for battery charge condition:
- 1-4 green LEDs indicate the percentage of charge condition.
- Continuous red light means the battery is almost empty and needs to be charged.
- Red flashing light means the battery is not ready for operation. Bring the battery into the battery operating-temperature range, then charge.
11. For repair and customer service, blow out the interior of the power tool frequently with dry and oil-free compressed air to remove conductive dust. Lightly grease the sliding surfaces between the die holder and punch.
12. Dispose of packaging, worn-out power tools, and accessories in an environmentally-friendly manner. Only dispose of batteries when fully discharged, and insulate the terminals with tape to prevent short-circuiting.
