To change the operating mode on the DEWALT XR DCH417 Cordless Brushless SDS Plus Hammer Drill, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the tool is turned off and the battery pack is disconnected.
2. Locate the mode selector dial on the tool. It is labeled with different symbols representing the different operating modes.
3. Depress the mode selector release button located near the mode selector dial.
4. Rotate the mode selector dial so that the arrow points to the symbol corresponding to the desired operating mode. The available modes are rotary drilling, rotary hammering, and hammering only.
5. Release the mode selector release button to lock the dial in place.
Note: It may be necessary to briefly run the motor after changing from "hammering only" to "rotary" modes in order to align the gears.
