To prime the water pump, follow these steps:
1. Remove the priming port bung located on the pump.
2. Pour water through the port until it is full. The amount of water needed will depend on factors such as the length of the hose.
3. Once the port is full, refit the priming port bung.
Note: The pump may need to be primed every time it is stopped, depending on various factors. Using a non-return valve (NRV) on the suction hose can help reduce the need for frequent priming.
Once the pump is primed, start the engine. If primed correctly, the pump should start pumping water. Make sure not to run the pump without water in the pumping chamber or impeller housing, as this could cause damage.
