Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the Definitive Technology UDSA In-Wall RCS II Reference Ceiling speakers:
1. Determine the installation location: Choose the desired location for the speakers in your ceiling. Make sure there are no obstacles such as studs, electrical wiring, or plumbing in the chosen location.
2. Cut the hole: Use the provided template to mark the cutout size on your ceiling. The cutout size should be 14-3/8" W x 14-3/8" H. Carefully cut the hole following the marked lines.
3. Prepare the installation cavity: The minimum size of the installation cavity should be 5-7/8" D. If your ceiling joists are wider than 16" apart, you will need to install framing material to create a cavity that is 14-1/2" between joists on the sides where the wood screws will be installed and 16-1/2" between joists on the sides where the lock arms will be used.
4. Apply gaskets: Apply the provided gasket strips to the back of the enclosure and on each side of the enclosure that will be placed against the joist or framing material. Use the short gasket on the side where the terminal cut-away is located.
5. Connect the speaker wires: Run color-coded wires between the speaker cavity and your amplifier. Leave a minimum of 18" of additional length in the cavity to facilitate speaker connection. Connect the speaker wires to the UIW RCS II speakers, making sure to match red to red (+) and black to black (-) terminal connections.
6. Secure the speakers: Place the speakers in the cutout holes and secure them to the joists or framing material using the provided screws. Tighten two screws on one side before installing and tightening the opposing side. If the speaker is mounted against a crossbeam, install two additional #8 x 3-1/2" wood screws to secure the speaker and prevent rattling. Secure the lock arms on the sides that are not secured with wood screws.
7. Install the grille: Fit the grille onto the speaker bezel.
