To install the Dimplex RFF-800 Series Forced Air Heater, please follow the instructions provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Remove the heater from the carton and lift off the front grille and trim to prevent damage.
2. If you are doing a recessed installation, secure the recessed box provided with the heater between studs placed on 32-inch centers. If different spacing exists, construct a frame to suit the box.
3. Note the orientation of the box ("TOP" shown on the recess box) and secure it to the studs using the holes provided on the side flanges.
4. If you are doing a surface installation, secure the optional surface mount box (Part No. RFF-P8C) by angling screws through the holes provided in the rear of the surface box into the studs or finished surface.
5. Position the recess box into the surface box and secure it with the screws provided in the parts bag of the surface box.
6. Insert approximately 15 inches of supply wire into the recess box through the knockout provided in the upper left-hand corner. The wire should be rated for a minimum of 90°C (194°F).
7. Connect the power supply to the terminals marked L1 and L2. Secure the ground wire to the green ground xxxx provided on the side of the heater assembly.
8. All units are factory-pre-wired for operation with a built-in thermostat. If remote thermostat operation is required, follow the appropriate wiring diagram located on the inside of the recess box.
9. Secure the heater assembly to the recess box using the screws previously removed.
10. Remove the trim frame from the front panel assembly.
11. If tamper-proof built-in or remote thermostat operation is required, secure the louvered door to the front panel using two M3 screws through the holes provided. The xxxx can then be removed, and the thermostat can be adjusted using a slotted screwdriver through the front panel.
12. Check that the fan blade is free to turn and that no residue remains in the unit. Secure the front panel to the assembly using the screws provided.
13. Set the thermostat to the desired temperature, and both the fan and heat should come on. The fan operation will continue for a short period after the elements have de-energized to remove residual heat from the unit.
14. It is recommended to clean the unit of dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner at the beginning of each season. Always open the circuit breaker to disconnect power before performing any maintenance or service operation.
Please note that these instructions are a summary of the installation process. For more detailed instructions and diagrams, refer to the Dimplex RFF-800 Series Forced Air Heater Instruction Manual.
