To install the Vulcan 36RB/36IRB Salamander Broiler, follow these steps:
1. Verify that the type of gas supply (natural or propane) matches the specifications on the rating plate located underneath the broiler rack drip tray. If they do not match, do not proceed with the installation and contact your dealer.
2. Unpack the broiler and check for any shipping damage. If there is damage, save the packaging material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.
3. Choose a location for the broiler that is free and clear of combustible substances. Refer to the minimum clearance requirements provided in the manual for both combustible and non-combustible construction.
4. Install the broiler according to the installation codes and standards applicable in your area. This includes following state and local codes, as well as the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI-Z223.1/NFPA #54) in the United States or CAN/CSA-B149.1 Natural Gas Installation and CAN/CSA-B149.2 Propane Installation Code in Canada.
5. Connect the broiler to the gas supply using a gas shutoff valve and appropriate gas connections. The gas supply line must be ¾” or larger, and any flexible or semi-rigid connections must comply with local and national requirements.
6. Install the gas pressure regulator supplied with the broiler, ensuring it is positioned with the vent plug and adjustment xxxx upright and the arrow on the underside oriented in the direction of gas flow.
7. Make sure the flue connection is not obstructed and consider installing a ventilation system to vent flue gases to the outside of the building.
8. If wall mounting the broiler, use the separate wall mounting bracket accessory (WALLMNT-CHRBKR) and follow the assembly instructions provided in the manual.
9. If mounting the broiler over a gas range, use a reinforced shelf and special mounting brackets. Follow the assembly instructions provided in the manual.
10. Once the broiler is installed, you can proceed with its operation, following the instructions provided in the manual for lighting, relighting, and shutdown. Make sure to adjust the rack position and gas setting according to your desired cooking temperature.
Please note that this is a summary of the installation process. For complete and detailed instructions, refer to the Vulcan 36RB/36IRB Salamander Broilers Instruction Manual.
