To install the VULCAN 36RB-N 36" Natural Gas Radiant Salamander Broiler, follow these steps:
1. Verify that the type of gas supply (natural or propane) matches the specifications on the rating plate located underneath the broiler rack drip tray. If they do not match, do not proceed with the installation and contact your dealer.
2. Unpack the broiler and check for any shipping damage. If there is any damage, save the packaging material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.
3. Choose a suitable location for the broiler, ensuring that the equipment area is free and clear of combustible substances.
4. Follow the specified clearance dimensions for combustible and non-combustible construction as mentioned in the manual. Ensure proper clearance for servicing and ventilation.
5. Install the broiler in accordance with the installation codes and standards applicable in your area, such as state and local codes, National Fuel Gas Code, and NFPA Standard #96.
6. Make the gas connections using a gas shutoff valve installed in the gas line ahead of the broiler. For natural gas, use a pressure regulator supplied with the broiler. For propane gas, use a pressure regulator supplied with the broiler as well.
7. Ensure that the gas supply line is ¾" or larger, and if flexible or semi-rigid connections are used, they must comply with local and national requirements.
8. Check all joints in the gas supply line for leaks using a soap and water solution. Do not use an open flame for this purpose. After checking for leaks, fully purge the gas piping to remove air.
9. Connect the flue to the ventilation system installed by qualified personnel. Do not obstruct the flow of flue gases from the rear of the broiler.
10. If wall mounting the broiler, use the separate wall mounting bracket accessory (WALLMNT-CHRBKR) and follow the assembly instructions provided in the manual.
11. If mounting the broiler over a gas range, use a reinforced shelf and special mounting brackets. Follow the assembly instructions provided in the manual.
12. Once the broiler is properly installed, you can proceed with its operation, following the lighting, relighting, and shutdown instructions provided in the manual.
