To install the FABTECH FTS221162 Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit on your Ford F-250/F-350/F-450/F-550, please follow the instructions provided in the installation manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and park the truck on level ground with the emergency brake engaged.
2. Remove any existing stabilizer(s), brackets, and hardware that are installed on the truck. Do not re-install a stabilizer in the factory position, as it will interfere with the new stabilizers. (Note: On 2017 and newer models, leave the factory stabilizer installed.)
3. Attach the FT30221 stabilizer bracket to the two front holes on the FT30730 axle bracket using the supplied 9/16” x 1 ¾” hardware. Torque to 55 ft lbs.
4. Install the axle bracket to the axle, positioning it so that the right side covers the lip on the differential. Use the supplied FT739U U-Bolt and hardware to attach the axle bracket to the axle. Leave it loose at this time.
5. For F-250/350 models only, locate the FT30148 Tie Rod End Bracket and position it 2” from the inside of the outer tie rod end. Use the FT740U U-Bolt and 3/8” hardware to attach the bracket to the tie rod end. Leave it loose at this time.
6. For F-450/550 models only, locate the FT30148 Tie Rod End Bracket and position it so that the inner U-bolt seats in the groove of the factory outer tie rod. Use the supplied 3/8” hardware to attach the bracket. (On the driver side, install the FT30148 on the driver outer tie rod so the bracket measures 2-1/4” from the end of the factory tie rod.) Torque the 3/8” U-bolt hardware to 37 ft-lbs.
7. Press two shock half bushings into the body end of the FT850032 (Driver) & FT850092 (Passenger) Steering Stabilizer. Press a sleeve into the bushings. Attach the stabilizer to the axle bracket with the reservoir line facing forward using the 1/2” x 3” hardware. Torque to 30 ft. lbs.
8. Attach the end of the stabilizer to the tie rod bracket using the supplied misalignment spacers and 1/2” x 2-1/2” hardware. The larger spacer should be installed on the bracket side and the smaller one on the bolt side. Torque to 35 ft. lbs.
9. Repeat steps 5-8 on the passenger side of the truck.
10. Torque the axle bracket U-bolt to 80 ft lbs.
11. Use a die grinder with a cut-off wheel to cut off the remaining thread on the axle bracket U-bolt flush with the C-nut.
12. Place the reservoirs in the supplied polyurethane saddle and attach them to the stabilizer body with hose clamps.
13. Steer the truck fully to the left and right to ensure the steering stabilizers are not bottoming out. Adjust the tie rod end bracket(s) as needed.
14. Re-torque all hardware after driving 200 miles.
15. Install the Driver Warning Decal.
