To install the Genie 41738R Garage Door Opener Hanging Kit, follow these steps:
1. Before starting the installation, make sure to read and follow all instructions provided in the garage door opener installation manual.
2. Attach the garage door opener to the door header bracket according to the instructions in the opener installation manual.
3. Ensure that the opener cord is within reach of the nearest power outlet. Do not use an extension cord to connect the opener.
4. Prop up the opener to be level or slightly lower than level. Measure the distance from the opener mounting tabs to the ceiling.
5. Using a hack saw or suitable tool, cut the two 20-inch drop-down brackets to the measured length.
6. Mount the 26-inch ceiling bracket directly above the opener mounting tabs on the ceiling using the two provided lag screws. Make sure to mount the lag screws into garage framing material and not into ceiling cover material such as plywood or drywall.
7. Measure the width of the opener mounting tabs and install the two drop brackets onto the ceiling bracket using the provided bolts and nuts.
8. Raise the opener and secure the drop-down brackets to the opener mounting tabs using the two provided bolts and nuts.
9. Place the 14-inch cross brace onto the drop-down brackets and secure it with the two provided bolts and nuts at approximately a 45-degree angle.
10. Tighten all nuts and bolts securely and continue with the rest of the opener installation.
