To lock the plates of the straightener for storage, first, turn off and unplug the appliance. Then, hold the handles together and push the plate-locking switch in the direction of the plates. This will lock the plates together. To unlock, hold the handles together and push the plate-locking switch in the direction of the cord. It is important not to engage the plate-locking switch during styling and not to lock the plates onto hair, as it could cause damage to the hair or injury.
