To install and configure the Seagate Exos X 4006 Series SRA for vSphere, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that your Exos X storage systems are already configured and have the same host interface configuration (FC or iSCSI).
2. Use the Storage Management Console (SMC) to configure replication functionality on the Exos X storage systems. Set the desired settings for SRA, such as snapshot count, snapshot history, queue policy, and snapshot basename.
3. Perform at least one replication from the protected site to the recovery site using the SMC. This ensures that SRM can use the most recently replicated copy at the recovery site for disaster recovery.
4. Install VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 6.5 or later at both the protected site and the recovery site. Set up vCenter Server at each site and create a single data center in each instance of vCenter Server.
5. Download the Seagate Exos X SRA software for your version of VMware SRM from the Seagate support website.
6. Install the SRA software by running the installer on the SRM server. If installing on the SRM Appliance, upload the file to the appliance and follow the directions in the SRM documentation.
7. After the SRA is installed at each site, configure SRM using the SRM client plug-in. Enter the IP addresses of the Exos X storage systems and the username and password configured in the SMC.
8. Make the necessary changes to your SRM settings, such as setting the storage provider.autoResignatureMode, storage provider.hostRescanRepeatCnt, and Storage.command timeout.
9. Once SRM and SRA are installed and configured, you can use SRM for disaster recovery, failover and failback, and reprotect operations. Refer to the VMware Site Recovery Manager Administration guide for detailed instructions on using SRM.
