To install the Essence WeR@Home+ Smoke Alarm, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Determine the best locations for installing the smoke alarms in your home. Refer to the "Location Recommendations" section in the user guide for guidance on where to install the smoke alarms for optimal coverage.
2. Gather the required equipment, including a drill with a 5 mm (3/16 in.) bit, a standard Phillips screwdriver, two DIN 7982 cross recessed countersunk head tapping screws (3.5 x 16 mm), wall anchors (provided), and two 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (not provided).
3. Before starting the installation, make sure to read the "Acceptable Installation Locations" and "Unacceptable Installation Locations" sections in the user guide to ensure you choose suitable locations for the smoke alarms.
4. Once you have determined the installation locations, remove the mounting bracket from the smoke alarm by turning the bracket counterclockwise.
5. Place the bracket in the chosen installation location and make pencil marks to indicate the xxxx holes for the wall anchors and screws. Drill holes at each mark using a 5 mm (3/16 in.) drill bit and insert the wall anchors.
6. Mount the bracket to the ceiling or wall using the screws provided.
7. Insert two 1.5V AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartments of the smoke alarm, following the polarity marks (+, -).
8. Align the smoke alarm slots with the bracket tabs and insert the tabs into the slots.
9. Turn the smoke alarm clockwise on the bracket until you hear a click, indicating it is securely attached.
10. To test the smoke alarm, pull it downward to ensure it is securely attached to the mounting bracket. Press the TEST/MUTE button until the alarm sounds. If the alarm sounds, it means the smoke alarm is working properly.
11. Repeat the installation process for each additional smoke alarm you want to install in your home.
