To install the K&N 63-1587 63 Series Aircharger High-Performance Air Intakes, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the two bolts that secure the engine cover and then remove the engine cover from the vehicle.
3. Release the locking tab and then disconnect the mass air sensor electrical connection.
4. Release the one-time use clamp that secures the CCV hose to the factory intake hose and then separate the CCV from the intake hose.
5. Loosen the hose clamp that secures the factory intake hose to the turbo inlet, then release the plastic clamp that secures the hose to the factory air filter housing. Remove the factory intake hose from the vehicle.
6. Remove the bolt that secures the factory air filter housing to the vehicle and then remove the housing from the vehicle.
7. Install the filter adapter into the K&N air filter housing and secure it with the provided hardware.
8. Set the K&N air filter housing assembly into the vehicle and secure it with the provided hardware.
9. Install the provided hump coupler onto the filter adapter and secure it with the provided hose clamps.
10. Install the provided straight coupler onto the turbo inlet and secure it with the provided hose clamp.
11. Install the mass air sensor adapter gasket onto the adapter. Remove the mass air sensor from the factory housing and then install it into the K&N adapter and secure it with the provided hardware.
12. Install the provided CCV vent tube into the K&N intake tube as shown.
13. Install the mass air sensor assembly into the K&N intake tube and secure it with the provided hardware.
14. Install the K&N intake tube into the couplers, align for the best fit, and then secure the hose clamps.
15. Reconnect the mass air sensor electrical connection.
16. Using the provided hose and clamps, secure the CCV hose to the K&N intake tube.
17. Install the K&N air filter onto the adapter and secure it with the provided hose clamp.
18. Assemble the foam filter and cage assembly and secure it to the air filter housing with the provided hardware.
19. Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable. Double-check to make sure everything is tight and properly positioned before starting the vehicle.
It is important to note that failure to follow the installation instructions and not using the provided hardware may damage the intake tube, throttle body, and engine. It is also recommended to periodically check the intake system for realignment, clearance, and tightening of all connections. Additionally, K&N Engineering, Inc. requires cleaning the intake system's air filter element every 100,000 miles or more frequently in dusty or off-road environments. Visual inspection of the filter every 25,000 miles is recommended to determine if cleaning is necessary. To clean and re-oil the filter, a filter Recharger service kit can be purchased separately.
