To clean the Nesco GWK-03D Electric Kettle, follow these steps:
1. Before cleaning, make sure to disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet and allow the kettle to cool.
2. Clean the base of the kettle by wiping it with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Wipe dry.
3. Rinse the interior of the kettle using clean water and gently wipe it dry using a lint-free cloth.
4. Do not leave standing water in the kettle. Always discard unused water and dry the interior surfaces when not in use.
5. To remove the filter, open the lid and lift the tab on the filter towards the inside. The filter will hinge, grasp it with your fingers and gently remove it.
6. It is normal to see the stainless steel cover of the heater plate at the bottom of the kettle change color after use. If your water has high iron content, brownish stains may appear. These stains can be removed with a cloth and mild stain remover.
7. If there are white calcium deposits inside the kettle, mainly on the stainless steel heater cover, you can use a commercially available decalcifying agent or add 1 oz. vinegar to the water, fill it to a minimum level, and run the BOIL cycle.
