To install the Holley 553-342 Instrument Camaro Bezel Kit, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the screws from the bottom of the left side of the lower knee bolster and the right side of the lower knee bolster to lower it away from the upper dash.
3. Remove the two nuts that secure the steering column and lower the steering column to gain access to the instrument bezel/cluster.
4. Remove the screws from each corner of the stock instrument bezel. There may also be additional screws located on the backside of the bezel, either side of the steering column, that must be removed prior to bezel removal.
5. Disconnect the wire harnesses connected to the stock instrument bezel, such as the windshield wiper harness, headlight switch harness, cigarette lighter wiring, and potentially the fog light switch.
6. Remove the stock instrument cluster, as it cannot be reused with the Holley bezel.
7. Remove the headlight switch from the stock bezel by pulling the xxxx out to the max position, pushing the small spring-loaded pin on the side, and pulling the xxxx out of the assembly. Unscrew the retaining ring and remove the assembly from the back of the bezel.
8. Reinstall the OE headlight switch or a replacement into the new Holley bezel in the upper left keyed hole. Insert the switch from the back, align the keyway, reinstall the retaining ring, and tighten. Then, reinstall the xxxx and stem assembly into the housing by depressing the small spring-loaded pin on the housing and pushing the stem inward.
9. The OE windshield wiper switch cannot be reused with the Holley bezel. Instead, either use a Detroit Speed Inc. SelectaSpeed Wiper Kit or a Painless Performance #80173 wiper switch. Install the switch into the round hole on the upper right side of the bezel and retain it with a locking nut. Install the xxxx onto the switch.
10. Install the small 1/4” LED turn signals into the small recessed holes near the bottom of the bezel by pushing them in from the front side.
11. If desired, drill holes in the center of the bezel to mount the large blue LED (headlight high beam indicator) and the large red LED (shift light indicator). Drill guides are molded into the back of the bezel for referencing the center. Drill a pilot hole with a 1/8” drill bit in either the high or low guide and then follow with a 1/2” drill bit. Deburr the hole and install the indicator LED bulb.
12. Install the gauges into the bezel. The bezel requires (2) 4.5” center gauges and (4) 2.06” gauges. Secure the gauges with the lock ring from the back side of the bezel.
13. Set the instrument bezel into the dash and make sure all gauges and switches are indexed to the desired orientation.
14. Perform all necessary electrical connections and wiring. Test all gauges, switches, and indicator lamps.
15. Reinstall the bezel by reversing the previous steps. Use new J-Nut clips and screws if any of the originals are missing or damaged. Repair or fabricate new mounting locations if necessary to utilize all (6) mounting locations on the bezel.
