To install the Yoshimura 070BG191400 Fender Eliminator Kit, follow these steps:
1. Remove the passenger and rider seat.
2. Remove the four torx bolts securing the passenger seat tray to the subframe and lift the tray to access the license plate light and turn signal connectors.
3. Locate and disconnect the license plate light and turn signal connectors.
4. While securely supporting the stock fender assembly, remove the four bolts securing the fender assembly to the chassis and carefully remove the fender assembly.
5. Remove the rubber wire grommet from the stock fender as it will be re-used with the Yoshimura fender bracket.
6. Disassemble the stock fender assembly and remove the left and right turn signals from the stock fender assembly.
7. Cut the stock license plate light connector from the stock fender assembly, making sure to cut at least a 6" section of wire from the connector.
Now, you can proceed with the installation:
8. Install the stock wire grommet into the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket.
9. Install the 070BG-LH-K1 LED light onto the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket using the M4X6BHS 4mm screws.
10. Route the wire through the hole in the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket and use the BN-SSS-22-18 solder shrink connectors provided in the kit to connect the Yoshimura license plate light wires to the stock license plate light wires. The connections should be as follows:
- Red wire to Blue wire
- Black wire to Black wire
a) Strip the stock fender light wire ends 1/4" - 1/2" and insert them into the BN-SSS-22-18 solder connectors provided in the kit.
b) Center the spliced wire ends in the middle of the solder connectors and use a heat gun or lighter to apply heat evenly on the outer edges of the solder connectors to shrink and hold the wires in place.
c) Heat the center of the solder connectors evenly until the solder begins to liquify, ensuring that the stripped ends are centered.
d) Allow the connections to cool completely and tug both ends of the wires to verify that the connection is secured.
11. Install the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket to the subframe using the stock bolts and supplied 6MMLN 6mm lock nuts. Torque them to factory specifications.
12. Install the stock left and right turn signals onto the 19140-TSB-L/R turn signal brackets.
13. Install the 19140-TSB-L/R turn signal brackets and 070BG-LPF license plate frame using the M6X16BHS and M6X14BHS 6mm button head screws, 6MMWASHER 6mm washers, and 6MMLN 6mm lock nuts as shown in the assembly diagram.
14. Route the turn signal wires through the hole in the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket and through the undertail. Secure the license plate light wire and turn signal wires to the 19140-FEBKT fender bracket using the supplied ZT-400 cable tie.
15. Re-connect the license plate light and turn signal connectors.
16. Re-install and secure the passenger seat tray using the reverse steps of removal.
17. Re-install the rider seat and passenger seat.
18. Check for proper function of the license plate light and turn signals, and ensure that all brackets and components are secure prior to riding.
