To install the BRANDMOTION SUTV-8857 SummitView Jeep Wrangler Adjustable Rear Vision System, please follow the instructions provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Start by preparing the radio:
- Remove the rubber bin insert from the top of the dash.
- Remove the 7mm bolt under the rubber bin insert.
- Use a plastic trim removal tool to remove the window switch panel.
- Disconnect the harness from the window switches.
- Remove the 7mm bolt behind the window switch panel.
- Remove the driver knee bolster cover.
- Remove the (2) 7mm bolts on both sides of the steering column.
- Remove the center stack/cluster trim.
- Remove the glove box for access.
- Remove the (4) 7mm bolts to remove the radio from the dash.
- Locate the White 22-pin connector with a female RCA that was included with your kit. Plug the 22-pin connector into the open connection on the back of your radio.
- Run the RCA towards the passenger side through the dash and let it rest behind the glove box. The RCA should be visible through the glove box opening.
- Reassemble the radio and surrounding panels, but leave the glove box disassembled.
2. Install the Rear View Camera:
- Part 1: Preparing the Radio
- Twist the red and green wires together for power.
- Connect the black wire to ground.
- Connect the wires directly to the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
- Part 2: Test Camera
- Connect the RCA to the aftermarket radio.
- Turn the key to the on position.
- Place the vehicle in reverse and verify a good image.
3. Installing Rear Camera on Tire Carrier:
- Remove the spare tire and place the camera bracket on the top two studs.
- Secure the bracket to the carrier using (2) push nuts on the top studs.
- Use the nylon washer and the third push nut on the bottom stud.
- Place the tire on the carrier and adjust the camera placement to see through the wheel spokes.
- Tighten the two adjustment screws on the bracket.
- Reinstall the spare tire on the carrier.
4. Install Rear View Camera Chassis Harness:
- Use a plastic trim removal tool to remove interior panels on the inside of the rear gate.
- Insert the camera connector through the rear relief/vent flap behind the spare tire mount.
- Gently pull the harness through the relief door and connect it to your chassis harness.
- Use the supplied wire ties to secure the chassis harness to the existing harness in the tailgate.
- Use the supplied wire ties to secure the chassis harness to the exterior of the fabric factory wire cover connecting the tailgate to the body. Leave enough slack to allow the gate to open fully.
- Remove the rear access panel to expose a 10mm bolt and remove the bolt.
- Remove the interior rear quarter panel.
- Ground the black wire at a good chassis ground and isolate the red wire with electrical tape.
- Run the chassis harness forward under sill plates and B-pillar cover to the passenger kick panel.
- Use a plastic trim removal tool to remove the plastic push pins and remove the passenger sill plate/kick panel.
- Run the chassis harness behind the glove box and into the radio cavity.
5. Connecting to Power:
- Part 1: Power Connection
- Twist the red and green wires together for power.
- Connect the black wire to chassis ground.
- Connect the wires to the power output from your aftermarket radio.
- Part 2: Finishing Installation
- Connect the male RCA of the chassis harness to the female RCA behind the glove box.
- Test the camera to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Reassemble the vehicle in reverse order of removal.
