To install the Etrailer T One T Connector on a Mercedes Sprinter, follow these steps:
1. Open the rear doors of the vehicle and locate the plastic covers that cover the rear taillight on each side. Use a trim panel remover to carefully remove the three covers on each side.
2. On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness. The taillight wiring harness will have a connection point that matches the ends of the T-One T-Connector. Separate this connector, being careful not to break the locking tabs. Ensure that all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
3. Find a flat surface near the taillight area inside the vehicle and mount the T-One T-Connector's black box module to prevent damage or rattling.
4. On the driver's side, insert the T-One T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock it into place. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensure that the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
5. Route the T-Connector end with the green wire up through the inner channel to the roof area of the vehicle. Follow the existing wiring and route it over to the passenger side, concealing the wire behind the plastic wire covers when possible. Secure the wire to existing wiring using the provided cable ties.
6. Route the wires down through the holes that were exposed in step 1. Repeat step 4 on the passenger side with the T-Connector end containing the green wire.
7. On the driver's side, locate a suitable grounding point near the black box, such as an existing ground stud. Alternatively, you can drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and xxxx . Clean the area from dirt and rustproofing before securing the wire.
8. From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 ga. wire and the black wire from the T-One T-Connector black box using the supplied yellow butt connector. Route the wire up through the channel to the roof area of the vehicle and follow the existing wire. Route the wire forward towards the driver's seat and conceal it behind the plastic wire cover when possible. Secure the wire to existing wiring using the provided cable ties.
9. Continue to route the wire behind the trim panel next to the driver's seat to the floor of the vehicle, being careful to avoid areas that could cut or pinch the wire.
10. Gain access to the vehicle battery underneath the driver's side floor area. Remove the three screws holding the trim threshold in place. Pull back the floor cover to expose the metal battery cover. Remove the screws and pull off the metal cover to expose the battery.
11. Continue to route the black wire to the battery underneath the floor covering, following the existing wiring.
12. Disconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable. If not removed, remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder provided. After cutting the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal and secure it to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using the yellow butt connector provided.
13. Reconnect the vehicle's negative (-) battery cable and install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder from step 12.
14. Secure the remainder of the T-One T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling. Be careful to avoid any areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
15. Replace the battery cover, floor coverings, rear plastic covers, and any other items that were removed during the installation.
Note: Store a 4-Flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
