Cleaning the SmartSteam100 Boilerless Steamer is an important part of maintenance to ensure its proper functioning. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to clean the steamer:
1. Prepare the necessary supplies: mild detergent, stainless steel exterior cleaner (such as Groen Spray DeGreaser), cloth or sponge, brush with soft bristles, spray bottle, measuring cup, nylon pad, towels, plastic disposable gloves, and a funnel.
2. Start by cleaning the exterior of the steamer. Use a warm solution of mild detergent and a cloth or sponge to wipe down the outside of the unit. Avoid getting liquid on the controls, control panel, electrical parts, or rear vents.
3. For stubborn materials stuck to the unit, use a fiber brush or a plastic/rubber scraper with a detergent solution to remove them.
4. If there are stainless steel surfaces, you can polish them with a recognized stainless steel cleaner.
5. Moving on to the interior cleaning, make sure the steamer is turned off and cooled completely before cleaning.
6. Remove the steam lid by grasping the two tabs located on the lid front and sliding it forward. Remove the left pan rack and the right fan shroud and rack assembly.
7. Clean the steam lid, left pan rack, and rack/shroud assembly to remove food soils. These parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher if necessary.
8. Use a mild detergent to wipe down the entire steamer cavity, removing any food and scale particles. Pay attention to cleaning the float probes if there is any residue or loose scale present.
9. Remove the drain strainer and clean it thoroughly to remove any buildup of debris.
10. After cleaning, replace the pan racks and steam lid. The steamer is now cleaned and ready to use.
It is important to follow these cleaning instructions to maintain the performance of the steamer. Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning the outside of the steamer, and avoid contact with any cleaning agents that may be harmful. Refer to the manual for more information and safety precautions.
