Installation of the CAT SHIELD on your Toyota 2022+ Tundra 3.5L is a straightforward process. Here is a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Start by installing the two wings onto the shield. Use the provided 12 short tamper-proof screws to attach the left and right side wings to the main shield. Refer to image A in the manual for visual guidance.
Step 2: Next, install the rear end of the shield. It is recommended to have assistance to hold the shield in place. Use a stand or partner to support the shield while you install the rear end. There are two nut plates that sit on top of the rear cross member. Use the two long tamper-proof screws to lock the shield to the cross member and nut plate. The screws should be fastened to the two innermost holes on the shield. Note that the outer holes are used in the Hybrid versions only. Refer to images C and D in the manual for reference.
Step 3: Proceed to install the front end of the shield. Locate the two threaded holes in the front cross member and use the two medium-length tamper-proof screws to secure the shield to the vehicle.
Step 4: If desired, you can apply the optional Cat Shield sticker. Place the sticker on the vehicle to warn thieves that your vehicle is protected by Cat Shield.
Please note the following tips for a successful installation:
- Use a ¼" bit driver and wear protective eyewear during the installation process.
- Ensure that the torque specs for the M8 tamper-proof screws are between 68-135 inch lbs.
- It is recommended to have assistance to hold the shield in place during installation.
- Do not use an impact tool or electric drills.
