To connect the Phocos CIS-MPPT 85/20 charge controller to your PV system, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the PV (solar) modules from the charge controller before installing or working on the PV system to prevent any damage to the charge controller.
2. Connect the wires in the indicated order to avoid any installation faults. The wire connections are as follows:
- Negative battery terminal (COMMON-) - Use black wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Positive battery terminal (BATTERY+) - Use red wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Negative panel terminal (COMMON-) - Use black wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Positive panel terminal (SOLAR+) - Use yellow wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Negative load terminal (COMMON-) - Use black wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Positive load terminal (LOAD+) - Use orange wire, minimum recommended wire size: 10 mm²
- Dimming signal terminal - Use black wire, minimum recommended wire size: AWG24 (0.25mm²)
3. Make sure all cable/wire connections are done properly and well insulated to prevent any bad or loose connections that could result in excessive heating or further damage.
4. Install a fuse or breaker near the battery before installing or adjusting the controller for added protection.
5. Be aware that all negative wires of the CIS-MPPT 85/20 charge controller are connected together and have the same electrical potential. If any grounding is required further to the casing, always do this on the negative wires.
6. Ground the casing of the charge controller using the grounding post on the left side.
