To clean the Hamilton Beach 46251 coffee maker, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely.
2. Lift up the Water Reservoir Lid and discard any water in the Water Reservoir.
3. All removable parts are dishwasher safe, so you can either wash them in the dishwasher or wash them in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry the parts thoroughly.
4. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders on the Carafe, as they may scratch the surface.
5. Wipe the coffee maker with a damp cloth or sponge and dry it. Avoid using abrasive cleansers or sponges that could damage the finish.
6. If the French Press Attachment needs cleaning, turn the xxxx counterclockwise to remove it from the Attachment. Slide the Attachment out from the Lid and rinse the parts with running water. Dry them thoroughly.
7. For routine cleaning, it is recommended to clean the coffee maker at least once a month (or once a week for areas with hard water). Fill the Water Reservoir with plain white vinegar up to the 2-cup fill line. Place the Carafe with the Carafe Lid on the Carafe/Travel Mug Stand to collect the vinegar. Plug in the coffee maker and press the I/ Button to begin brewing. When the vinegar starts dispensing, press the I/ Button to stop brewing and allow the vinegar to clean. After 30 minutes, press the I/ Button again to finish brewing. Empty the Carafe. Repeat this process two more times using cold water only.
8. If you have the optional Water Filter, it should be replaced every 3 months. Soak the Filter in cold water for 15 minutes, then insert it into the Water Filter Holder and place the Holder in the Water Reservoir.
9. Your Hamilton Beach 46251 coffee maker is now clean and ready to brew.
It is important to note that you should not immerse the cord, plug, or coffee maker in any liquid to avoid electrical shock.
