To connect the SANSUI SW-68F subwoofer to your car's audio system, follow these steps:
1. Before making any connections, turn off the power to all audio components.
2. Connect the red battery lead from the amp directly to the positive (+) terminal of your car's battery. Do not connect this lead to the fuse block.
3. Connect the ground lead (black) securely to a clean, bare metal spot on the vehicle's chassis. Make sure it is a true ground and not the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Ground all your audio components to the same point on the chassis to prevent ground loops.
4. If your head unit has RCA line outputs, connect the RCA input jacks on the SW-68F to the line out leads on your head unit using RCA extension cables (sold separately).
5. If your head unit does not have RCA line outputs, you can use the speaker level inputs. Connect the speaker input leads on the SW-68F to the speaker output leads of your head unit. Make sure not to connect the speaker leads together or to chassis ground. Use either RCA line level or speaker level inputs, but not both at the same time.
6. Connect the remote turn-on lead (blue/white) to the remote turn-on (positive trigger, +12V only) lead of your head unit. Note that if you are using speaker level input signals from the head unit, the remote turn-on lead connection is not necessary.
7. Set the phase switch on the SW-68F to either 0° (button out) for normal subwoofer phase or 180° (button in) for subwoofer reverse phase.
8. Use the crossover frequency adjustment xxxx (LP FILTER) to set the crossover frequency between 50 to 150Hz.
9. Adjust the input gain using the input gain adjustment control. Start by setting the SW-68F input gain to the minimum position. Increase the head unit volume until the output distorts, then reduce the volume by one step or until the output is no longer distorted. Finally, increase the amplifier gain until the sound from the speakers becomes distorted, and then slightly reduce the gain until the sound is no longer distorted to achieve the optimum gain setting.
10. If desired, you can connect the remote bass level xxxx to the remote gain adjustment input on the SW-68F. This allows you to adjust the overall bass level of the subwoofer. Turning the remote bass level xxxx towards (+) increases the overall subwoofer level, while turning it towards (-) decreases the overall subwoofer level. Note that the SW-68F can be used without connecting the remote bass level xxxx , but the overall subwoofer level cannot be adjusted from the listening position.
