To install the IMI Hydronic Engineering TA-BVS 240 Balancing Valve, please follow the instructions provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Unloading and storage:
- Check that the contents of the delivery are as ordered and that the valve and related equipment have not been damaged during transportation.
- Store the valve carefully before installation, preferably in a well-ventilated, dry place, on a shelf or a wooden grid to protect it from rising damp.
- Protect bare metal surfaces, shaft parts, and flange surfaces with an anti-corrosive agent before storage.
- The valve must be transported to the installation site in a sturdy package. Do not remove the flow port protectors before installation. Protect the valve from sand, dust, and other impurities.
2. Valve installation:
- Follow the recommended installation distances as shown in Figure 3 of the manual.
- If using weld connections, it is recommended to use electric welding (TIG, MIG). Ensure that the valve is not overheated during welding and use a wet fabric to protect the valve seat from excess heat.
- If using flanges, ensure that the sealing faces of the pipe flanges are parallel to the valve sealing faces and correctly aligned. The length of the valve must be the same as the distance between the flanges in the pipeline, taking into consideration the gasket.
- For detailed installation instructions, refer to the specific section in the manual based on the valve size and type.
3. Commissioning and pressure testing:
- Before commissioning, it is recommended to use a bypass valve in connection with valves of size DN 150 and larger to avoid pressure shocks and reduce forces caused by opening the valve under pressure.
- The largest allowable testing pressure is 1.1xPN when the valve is closed. During pipeline pressure testing (1.5xPN), the valve must be open.
- The pre-set value of the valve can be defined by the desired Kv-value. Refer to Table 1 in the manual for the corresponding Kv-values based on the set value and valve size.
4. Maintenance:
- The TA-BVS balancing valves are virtually maintenance-free. However, periodic inspections are recommended.
- Check that the valve is free from surface damage and shaft leaks, and repair any damage if necessary.
- Inspect the valve for shaft leaks, check the manual gear/actuator, and ensure the tightness of the screws between valves approximately six months after commissioning and then once a year.
- For O-ring seal replacement, please contact IMI Hydronic Engineering.
Please note that this is a general guide, and for more specific guidance on the installation, operation, and maintenance of the valve, it is recommended to contact IMI Hydronic Engineering or refer to the detailed instructions in the manual
