To clean the surface burners on your Amana gas range, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the burners are cool and the range is turned off.
2. Remove the surface grates from the cooktop.
3. Remove the burner cap from each burner base.
4. Clean the burner cap, burner base, and gas tube opening with a damp cloth.
5. Use a straight pin to clean any clogged burner ports. Do not enlarge or distort the ports, and do not use a wooden toothpick.
6. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned.
7. Replace the surface grates.
If cleaning the surface burners does not solve the problem of uneven or yellow flames, there may be other issues with the gas supply or the air/gas mixture. In that case, it is recommended to contact a trained repair specialist or refer to the installation instructions for further troubleshooting steps.
